Anyone try decoupage?

Loading...

Yes, I have decided that rather than covering my next kit with pink sparkle, I want to cover it in Playboy covers and centrefolds!!! Maybe even a few Page 3 girls. Or, that could be the next theme...

Yes, it is a bit like Keith's Pictures of Lily kit, but not all that much. No, I am NOT going to defile a vintage kit like this. I will do this to brand new shells. My main concern is getting the shells too thick, which is why I will probably dye the shells black, seal them, then place the pictures closer to the centre of the shells. I have only found one article, and it was, of course about Keith Moon's famous Premier kit...

Has anyone done this? If you have, any hints?

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

say bunny they have a special clear to use to imbed the pics you can just use a wet on wet sinking them in the wet finish and it done or you can add layers use spray adhesive first to attach then of clear to cover it on flat surfaces they have a ab mix to pour and it self levels bars use it but you can do a very good multiple layers with simple shake can.

good luck

(use a spray gun if u can)

Thankfully, I do have a few worthless shells (I keep a few around for experimentation purposes) that are perfect for this pursuit. I am wondering if there is a lacquer-compatible spray adhesive. White glue is water-based, but not terribly thin. ModgePodge is basically thinned white glue. I also know that white glue is more compatible with lacquer than, say 3M 55!!! But, maybe 3M 55 could be compatible with lacquer... I dunno.

The epoxy you speak of would work, but how thick would the shell become?
