Looks to be Japanese to me. Anyone know the brand? I would think this strainer shot would tell all..

maybe russian ,,,
Looks to be an early Star stencil. Can I see the other side? Also, I would like a peek inside as well, if you don't mind. The wood type will make it easier as well.
That strainer i have seen on Star made drum's,so your drum could or should i say have a star badge if not it is one of many name's that Star used..if i re-call right the strainer on the other side would be like the one you posted, but with-out the handle....Oh by the way i have part's for the strainer's if you are missing any...Mikey
o.k Many thanks, It looks like the other star drums ive seen. This ones a bit corroded but plays well, I recieved it with some other drum things i needed. Will sell this one if someone needs it.seems complete. no label or markings that I can see.
Also it looks to have rogers type rims on it. they curve to the inside.
here are some more pics. Its dirty but solid, I payed 30 bucks for it. Who needs this?? Check out the wedges in the shell. Interesting construction!

OK, I had a WMP Snare with those same lugs and re-rings. Mine came with an archaic 4 point, similar to an old Slingerland. The muffler was missing, but I assume, from the spacing, it was likely the same as this one, which is, again, a Slingerland copy.
Does the strainer work as it should? And I am at a loss now, as I cannot say for sure if it is Star or Pearl, or perhaps Gracy. I have an entire WMP kit, from which I am almost certain that snare was the original, since they came from the same source, in the same geographic area, and appear to be faded at the same rate and seem to have matching wrap and the lugs would seem to match the other drums.
