Wasn't the Sonor Jungle kit snare a single head with snares under the batter. Most British companies(Premier, B&H,Carleton, John Grey at least) offered drums similar to the Slingerland Stereo tom as far back as the early 30's. I've seen a few unelaborate ones in junk shops ,off and on.

SO this is what I had done- maybe its stupid but I think it's kinda cool.

I kept a 13" tom tom from a violet-blue satin flame Premier APK set, I had it made into a snare, a single headed snare.
