There's a blue 22" Vistalite shell on eBay right now that's got me disheartened. Its starting bid is $950 and it's just a bare shell. What kind of greedy, uneducated moron lists a bare shell for $950? They seller also thinks it's a 24.

As you all know i renovate to a high standard. I do the majority of selling on ebay. I agree some prices are stupid. There are still some great deals out there in the drum business. The stuff i sell is mainly british vintage, which is normally reasonably priced. I do a lot of trade with the USA. The ludwig marcher you see in drum gallery came with some drums i bought recently and cost me £30 for it. Sometimes i can get a great profit and then other times i break even. This particular marcher will give me a good profit. All the best guys.

There are a lot of uneducated people that stumble across great equipment and throw ridiculous prices on it. They see an old K for BIN and apply that price to an old A, etc.

And everything is "rare". Zildjian A 60s 20" ride RARE. Such nonsense.

And then there are those who know exactly what they have and think that someone will pay 20% over the actual value. Maybe someone will, but I've seen the same cymbals on craigslist for about a year. So much for maybe.

I love free market, but I'm sick of idiots landing great equipment and stripping it for parts. I'll see every nut and bolt from a great old drum separated and listed on someone's ebay account. Unreal.

The only sure thing in life is CHANGE. Yes, the market has evolved, and yes prices have changed. Yes, there is lots of stupid prices being asked, but overall I feel the market is good! We’re talking about it, right? This has evolved from the 70’s to now. Look what is available! You can get a Oyster Blue Downbeat if you look deep enough. Going to pay for it, but hey, if that’s what you want? Go for it!

You’ll never get rid of the guitar player who finds a Gretsch 14x14 and asks $1500 firm for it! I mean c’mon! They play guitar!:confused:

I think they should just do away with the bin, start the bidding at $1.00 and see where it goes.

I believe one could do that...but have a reserve price you at least want it to sell for and see if it ever reaches that.
