i,m replacing some stripped out screws on my pearl drum lugs and found out that these are so outdated it must be 40 or so years sinse these were used i can get 4Mx ,7 PITCH but not .75 i have tried up and down the web no luck the machnist where i work says he can use a forming tap to bring them up to .7 rather than a bottom tap so not to remove too much material i guess things were not built better just more complicating back then in 1976
anybody know where to get 4Mx.75 pearl lug screws
Sheddski,
I've recently had the same problem, too. I've posted what I've found on a couple other threads here. Basically: pre 1967 Japan had a different set of standards for their screw and bolt threads "Japanese Industrial Standard." They changed over to ISO (International Standards Organization?) in 1967. Some of the differences are like you found: M4 is 75 pitch instead of ISO 70 pitch. M5 is 90 pitch instead of 80 pitch, etc. I have not found anybody who has made these in over 40 years. Some of the guys in the vintage Honda forums might tell you the same thing. Pearl must have had a huge inventory of lugs because my 1970's kit had some of the older JIS threads, too. I simply bought some newer Pearl style lugs to replace a couple screwless lugs I had. If you want to go 'vintage and correct' you may want to post in the "wanted" section. There are some great people in here who will help you!
Pearl lugs can be re-tapped to 8/32.
Thanks to Mr. Jerry Jenkins
