Any info on this color.. I thought my set was sparkling blue.. but when I went to buy some hoops and strips this weekend the guys showed me sparkling blue and it didn't match the shell I had.. This kit in the picture matches my color.

He did happen to have two hoops with strips that did match perfectly but he said this color was called green or aqua and was only made for a short while in the late 50's... was he working me on the price or is this a rare color??

How much should I have paid for two 22" inch hoops with this color inlay in good condition?

There were several variations of blue. There was an aqua, which is quite rare, but it's much more green than your drum.

Check out this page by Dr. CJW showing the many variations of Slingerland blue sparkle.

Geez.. I guess when all else fails I could read the article in the BIG BLUE BOX that says SLINGERLAND FINISHES right there on the home page.

Thanks for pointing that out graciously without calling me a bonehead!

The flash on my point and shoot really changes the color of these drums.. it's uncanny. In room light they really match up with the 51, 56, or the 58 kind of color.. when the camera flashes them they turn blue.

Like the article says.. it's all about the lighting.
