Hello all, has anybody in the Toledo, OH area ever been to or heard of TRS on Upton Ave.? I have only heard about it from Marty at the Drum Depot and his description of the place has intrigued me. He said the place/building is stacked wall-to-wall and floor to ceiling with drums/vintage drums and parts. Supposedly you can enter the place by appointment only since now-a-days it’s technically closed for business. Since I’m a few hours from Toledo and only make it there maybe twice a year I have not been able to see this place in-person. Anyone ever heard of it, seen it for yourself, know the owner, etc.? I think it used to be a instrument/equipment rental business.
Any of You Guys in The Toledo area…

I have no idea anything about the place but if you should go there and its good let me know. I live up in Michigan but I would drive all the way down to check it out.
I'm from the east coast, but I'm sure I've heard of this place from someone else on the forum. It sounds like a real blast from the past. I hope I'll get to see it some day!
I've been to Cleveland and flown over Columbus. They tell me I was in Ohio at the time... I didn't notice the place.
Yea, I lived in Toledo and have been to TRS a few times and done business with them, trades actually, he has a lot of inventory at Marty's (the Drum Depot) - his building was so packed when I was there that you could barely move. I remember looking up and seeing sets of Camcos, Gretch, and on and on. The only thing is that he knows what he's got and he's a little too steep for my wallet, but he did do me a good trade on the snare drum. I guess it would be worth the trip depending on what you want, but make sure you call ahead so you can see Marty at the Drum Depot because he's not in every day of the week. Also, if you plan on trading stuff for stuff, you might want to talk to him in advance to see what he's willing to do. I hope this helps, and let me know cause I live not to far from there and I'm willing to help if you need it.
Thanks,
DaveD' Drummer
That's Mike Hennig. His warehouse is jam packed with Camco and George Way drums. You might be able to get a hold of him through his website, camcodrummer.com. He is also on FaceBook under his name as well as Camco Drums.

I grew up in Toledo and my folks still live there, so I am back a few times a year. By the way, Marty at the Drum Depot is a great guy and he has a cool shop! I remember going to TRS Music in high school, and he had some Formula 602's and some hollow logo Zildjian stuff (this was 20 or so years ago). It's in a really junky area of town. A little unsafe, it's where you would expect to see a junkyard or auto salvage place.
From what I understand, his (the TRS guy) prices are very steep, and I have also heard that he wants $20 just to come meet you and let you in, and he doesn't give it back or give you $20 off whatever you buy. I bought one of his kits that he had at the Drum Depot (a BDP Whitehall), and it was reasonable ($250), but that's Whitehall, not Camco or George Way.
Good luck if you decide to pursue this, but bring your wallet!!
