Any Info On This Rogers Snare? Suggested Price Tag?

Loading...

Hello all, I came across this Rogers snare while purchasing a keystone acrolite through a craigslist ad. I am by no means knowledgeable on Rogers drums but it did catch my attention because just like the acrolite this guy had, this snare was also in excellent condition. I do know it is a 6.5" X 14" Dyna-sonic but that's about it. The owner did not offer to sell it at the time I looked at it but said he has had offers of about $700. Would this be an accurate price? Also, what year would this snare be from. Sorry for the lack of quality pictures but I had to snap them quickly with my cell phone.

It has bread and butter lugs and clockface strainer, so it is pre-63. It is rare and valuable. There is a 5" beavertail green glass glitter rogers dynasonic listed on ebay right now for $4000. Beavertails are more desirable than bread and butter lugs because they don't crack, but that is still a very rare and valuable snare. The 6.5 inch depth makes it even better. I don't want to venture to guess its value, but it is way more than $700. You should jump on it.Yes Sir

Tall hoops and an early badge which if I'm not mistaken that makes it one of the first couple of thousand made.

Does it look like something is missing in the strainer area in the first picture?

yes some minor parts are missing. A "vintage" dealer would sell/ask for that drum, if original pearl, original bearing edges and no extra holes or cracks in the finish, $4K-6,500. 6.5 wood Dynas are rare beasts- esp. early B+B lug ones. If original, place on feebay for 3k and watch it sell in 1 hour.

See pic of the COB drum to compare I picked up yest. at the Lawton PA drum show. It is in the 1130s range on the Dyna badge. Right on Nutbox!

Man, I have to start buying acrolites on craigslist. lol. Get that thang!
