any ideas on this shell?

Loading...

hey folks.

i got given this drum shell today, an am intrigued by a couple of things.

firstly the size - it's 13 3/4" (349mm) in diam and 5 3/4" (145mm) deep.

am i right in thinking it's an old drum? also there's a hook on the top hoop(see pics), completely stumped on that one.

would it have been some kind of marching drum, where it hooked onto a belt?

there's no badge on it, but there is some writing on the inside(again, see the pics).

i've noticed a few filled in holes too. will that be that it was a different drum, made into a snare? the 3 holes in a triangle makes me think there may have been a tom mount there at one point, which leads me to thinking it was a project of some kind.

anyway take a look at the pics, and see what y'all think.

cheerz people. (i'll put 2 posts up, coz i took a few pics.)
