Made in London before WWII.

Have a look here at the 1930 catalogue page 17 and you can learn all about it:

Thanks guys thats really helpful. I've restored two drums but this is a challange to be honest... Two things I'm concerned about it getting the nasty paint off it and getting skins to fit. It seems just short of 26" despite what the catalogue says. What do you think would be the best skins in this case?

I'd say depends on what you plan to do with it.. I'd start by trying a hoop over a 26" at the local music store and just check how it would fit..

Cheers

Thanks, will definately check a 26" this weekend. My plan was to restore the drum as best as i can and use it as part of my kit. Are these drums practical for use or do they sound terrible? Was thinking of leaving the drum natural but i understand from the catalogue that the original would of had a laminate wrap with natual hoops... what is your advice?

I have a 28" de-luxe version which I have used for old-time jazz work and it is great for an un-amplified full sound in marquee tents at garden parties and the like but I wouldn't use it for rock or anything too modern and loud. The gold sparkle on it is actually a paint effect not a "wrap" or covering.

A 12 by 26 would be used for Dixieland/Vaudeville...nothing too loud..as the OP said....

I would love to get a badge like that....thinking of doing a Prem timeline with them...

Cool find!
