Why does the small tom have smaller lugs than the rest ? I never understood the Ludwig large lug small lug deal.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

I always that Ludwig wanted the similar spacing between the lugs. Why? I suppose they thought it gave the kit more continuity.

Oddball - I think the reason for the mini classic lugs is weight. I have two smaller toms ( 12" & 13" ) with the large lugs and the drums are stupidly heavy because of them. The mini's made more sense for toms and the large for bass drums. At least that seems to be my observation.

What confuses me is the wrap. This is the different pattern to the 60s pattern but if it's early 70s then was Ludwig using both patterns through to 70s at the same time? I am currently working on a kit that has serial numbers putting it around 76 and a bass drum from roughly 77/78 or so. The kit has the older WMP wrap and bass has the wrap like this kit. I had assumed (wrongly) that this wrap came later but if this kit is 74 or earlier then they were using both wraps at the same time. Or am i just seeing the wrap wrong

I think those toms are upside down. Just looking at the wrap seams glaringly obvious in front like that - can't be right. Plus aren't you supposed to be seeing a bit of badge there as well?

Sorry, nit-picking here...
