I saw pictures of that drum a few days ago. I have documented a small number of Gretsch drums which would normally have had but lacked the silver sealer, but most are concentrated in a different serial number range.

Thanks for the input. I like to be 100% sure on these things, but this one is nagging at me. The ply configuration fits the maple/gumwood combination of the Jasper shells and the edges are the 30 degree rounded ones.

I thought the placement of the leg mounts was interesting. There do not seem to be extra holes from Gretsch mounts before the Rogers ones. I think that most floor toms I have seen do not put a leg mount on the same panel as the badge. The leg would cover the badge if it were not extended most of the way. I just looked at the Gretsch and Ludwig drums I have in my basement and none of them had leg mounts sharing the panel with the badge. That is a small sample size, but it does make me wonder about this particular drum.

Some drum stores ordered drums without the various mounting hardware and/or legs mounted. This was especially common with Gretsch drums as their hardware tended to lag behind in "modernization" . Then the store would install whatever hardware/legs the end user preferred. That could be the case here if there are no extra holes. If so the installer might not necessarily adhere to the same mounting criteria as the factory tended to use. One possible explanation anyhow.
