I saw these today when out and about. First up is a WFL bass drum with zephyr lugs. I think it was a marcher but not sure. Asking price was $175

Also a 1960's Kent Snare with asking price of $80

I couldn't find much in the way of how to value either drum. Both had been just poorly painted over at some point. Might get the bass drum just for the cool zephyr lugs but I have to see if I can work down the price.

I've found a couple nice, not great, but nice deals at antique shops. Most of the time they have stuff hugely overpriced though. It seems interior decorators will 'pay' for stuff regardless. However, good deals can be found.

The best I ever did at an antique shop? A Rogers Super Ten for $40.00 about a year and a half ago...

That may be a great deal, no clue what they go for.

Never found a good price on any drums at an Antique store always way over priced !! I did do a price evaluation for a ton of rope drums for a local antique store here in my area, so they paid me, not me paying them, so that was good.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I am digging that Kent snare . Had it been local I would own it .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

I found these two green silk pearl Olympic drums

in Niantic Connecticut

at a small antique store called Thames Imports

at the time the place was in the process of relocating

I bought both drums along with a 16" pearl floor tom wrapped in tiger eye pearl (root beer strata) for $70.00 total

Kenwood,

did you ever find the rest of the tom mount to complete?

I might have one here...

You can find the BD cymbal mount on ebay easily enough...its the same as the BD spur....you might have to buy a pair though....

Re antique shops...years ago,I used to blindly call them all over the country...FINALLY hit gold at one in Waterloo,Iowa..

Lady had a circa 1927, L&L 14 by 28 BD with factory oil painted Cabin Scene and 5 by 14 L&L Stipplegold set for $200 stuck in a closet!Bowing

Flipped them to a collector in Japan for what I recall was $2,500..plus shipping..

His wife liked the painted scene a lot when I snail mailed him pics..so that cinched the deal...

The $2,300 profit probably just paid for all the long distance calls I did over the course of years....electricit

Gave up calling antique shops after that..WAY TOO MUCH WORK !

I never head any luck at antique shops until this year - a Leedy Reliant COB snare from the 1930s for $100. Didn't like it much and sold it.

My wife might go to work for me doing just this. Well that and taking care of our little one and one on the way. We like to go looking for antiques and with modern technology she can just shoot me pictures of anything she finds instantly.
