Yes, I would go with a regular tension while playing and loosen when not playing if your aren't going to be playing for a length of time. If you are playing them on a regular basis in a climate controlled room and don't move them around then you can keep the same tension on them but if you aren't going to be playing them for weeks or months then always loosen.

Yes, I can do the older style Rogers logo, I just need to get my hands on one of their old heads or a pdf. file with the correct size so I can make another template.

BTW, I still have more wrap for you if you need it.

Great info Matt thanks. Cool to see all the testing. Hey if you need any other chemicals to try let me know. I can give you some of that water miscible wash I use at work. It can be used with or deluted with different % of water. It's what I used on the painted wrap test. I have some real strong stuff also. But might be a bit much for calf. Your welcome to try some though. Each can be bought from local paper company (most sell supplies) or there's a graphic art supply place in Milford too. Quarts, gallons and 5 gal drums. BTW been meaning to ask you....... can you do the older style Rogers bass logo? Thanks!

Sounds good Matt just let me know if you ever need anything. I'll grab some. Yes thank you I forgot about that wrap! I'll see if I can find a scan of the logo. Not sure where to look. There's a bass logo sticker on ebay but I don't know how exact they are. I can grab one if you think it might be correct. Thanks!

Great info here...thanks! I only use calf heads at home...don't play them out due to climate changes and tuning. Plus...I only have original vintage heads and would not trust them for gigging.

If you're repairing a drum for display only then you can either patch it with another piece of calfskin or tape on the back side. If it is a head you are going to be playing then I would recommend replacing the head with a new one.
