Another Wat to Clean Tension Rods

So much for proof reading. Sorry for the Title. DOH

I've had good results with this method.

Things needed:

[INDENT]Dawn dish soap

Magic Eraser or generic equivalent

Rag/cloth

drill[/INDENT]

[LIST]

[*]Soak the tension rods in a the Dawn/water solution overnight (this will loosen up the grease).

[*]Rinse and dry the tension rods.

[*]Mount a tension rod by the head in the drill chuck and set it to reverse.

[*]Wrap the Magic Eraser around the tension rod and run the drill the length of the rod/threads a couple times.

[*]Repeat the above step with the rag/cloth.

This will make the tension rods and the threads really bright. I have included Before and After pictures.

Good call on the cleaning- I have been restoring an old Gretsch set, needed to clean everything and was really dreading having to clean all the rods. I did not soak in dawn, I applied Bon Ami and Brasso on a rag, and used your drill method. Worked great! Thanks for the tip.
