Another Vintage Acquisition - What's Wrong With Me?!!

Loading...

After SWEARING I'd NEVER get another kit, I just purchased the following...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SLINGERLAND-4-PIECE-PURPLE-SPARKLE-DRUM-SET-VINTAGE-EARLY-70s-GREAT-CONDITION-/390652316789?pt=Vintgae_Drums_Percussion&hash=item5af4b14c75&nma=true&si=A9LfAKS2DFL3wJGoTa%252BA581sqWY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

After a phone call of more than an hour and repeated emails and text messages, including lots of pictures, I decided I wanted to make this kit mine! All my current vintage kits are all 1-up, 1-down, so I thought I'd get a nice dual-rack tom setup. I think the rarity of the finish, and overall condition of the kit, is why I got them.

I'm currently away on vacation and worked out a deal with the seller to hold off on payment until I knew the kit would arrive when I'm home. I'll let you all know how it works out and will post pictures! Oy Vay... another kit!

Beautiful kit in a rare finish. If you've never dealt with that tom mount, it can be limiting. You can add the super setomatic with no mods to the bass drum. I recommend it playing two up on a Slingerland.

Seems though, that in the '70s, many of the fusion guys used the regular double setomatic on Gretsch drum sets.

Congratulations.

I tried to get my sister to buy these because purple is her favorite color, but it was too rich for someone who doesn't play that often.

It's my preferred set-up, but not my preferred color. I'm probably done acquiring unless I find chrome and/or another nice wood veneer. But as we've seen so many times, never say never ...

HA HA HA!

Oh you got it bad... bad, bad, bad...

(guess I'd better not look in the mirror, huh?)

Now, THAT IS SUCH A COOL COLOR!!!!!

I mean, it's not Avocado, but 'holy-get-your-attention!'

IT'S PURPLE!!!

Does it come with an ermine fur collar? I mean that's like some kind of royal drum kit, right?

Coolness drips from it's lugs...
