It was a good practice last night but, this old Star did not compare with my late 70's Supra. It sounded good but, not like I'd hoped. The response was not great. In tunes that required a deep booming snare it was perfect but, in most, just okay. I suppose that is why Supras were the most recorded drum in history! I love my vintage Stars but, I'm trying to be honest here. I'm not elitist by any means but, my Supra goes back on the stand!

Another practice last night. I packed up the Star and replaced it with my old Supra. To me, everything sounded sharper and somehow more defined...not as "thumpy". I still love my old Stars, especially this big old snare but, unless a heavy sound is required for a specific song or two, it's the Supra all the way!
