another Rogers question

I have a Dayton era Holiday floor tom that is 14" in dia. and 16" deep. Is this drum more or less desirable than a 14x14? The wrap has been stripped, (doing new wrap this weekend) and the tall boy hoops are gone. Other wise all is there and working. The drum sounds great. It's part of a players kit that I'm re- doing.

Eye BallI have only seen that size ONCE before...a friend/client of mine has one in duco finish south of here.

Regardless of whether it is stripped or original finish, that is worth a crapload of $$$$$. Even if just the naked shell and all of its hardware were put on eFlay...we are talking $600 easily if you auctioned it there.

14x14's are rare and sought-after....folks will pay up to $700-800 for one in original finish. 16x14's are incredibly rare......

I have seen 14 x 14s go for over a grand, and NEVER have seen a 14 x 16, except for once, and it was part of a kit. I would think it would go for well well well over $1000, in a rare color, even more.

Gee, I guess I lucked out. Too bad the guy stripped the wrap. I think it was some kind of pink pearl. The guy said it didn't look very "manly". I just got a drum dial and I tuned the Rogers and a 14x14 Oaklawn Camco to the same settings to "A B" them. The Rogers was deeper and warmer than the Camco, which I consider to be a superior sounding drum. I only paid $200 for the Rogers kit. 20, 12,14. The new wrap is black with silver sparkle inlay on the hoops.

Being a completely ignorant imbecile bonehead doesn't end up looking too manly, either. What a fookin' idiot ! That wrap is the most prized of any Rogers wrap there is...to have actually removed it when it DIDN'T have any damage/didn't need to be replaced.....CryBabyEye Ball

There's a special place reserved in Drummers Hell for an individual like that...

Another interesting thing about this kit is that the BD and the RT are both Tower series, while the floor is Holiday. All the numbers are consistent and they are all Daytons. The guy who owned them said they all had the same finish. They must have been sold originally as a set. Anyone have any idea why they would offer this combination?

Well, I have seen that with Slingys and Luddys...all of the drums are of one lug configuration except one...but the badge #'s are close ad the finishes identical...so it could be Rogers did that on occasion as well.

That MIGHT drop the value of the kit just a tad...but again, that 14" FT is just....GOLD....
