Hi all!

i just found another creazy MIJ snare drum.

It come with a good old GARY drum set from the 50's (french made)

It's a repainted one... but great Rhodoid under!! like blue agate or something like.

First i wondering if it a Pearl one (strainer, color) but, it's grey painted interiors, no Luan, look like a Star inside (but no diagonal shell cut). the lugs look like old Star snare (Ralf?)

there is no badge, but i can see 2 little holes upside the eyelet (gold eyelet btw). seems to have an horizontal badge befor... not like Star..

any idea??? Star or not?

I just finishing sand paper an polish machine!! great result!!

If anyone can help me for id the Snare origine???

Thanks à lot!!!

Hello,

no, it's not Star (or Hoshino Gakki), but it's Hoshino Kougyou, a totally separate company.

You find exactly the same features of the snare drum here:

It's quite simple.

Hoshino Gakki: the name of the mother company, starting with musical instruments in 1929, first drums under the brand name Star appeared around 1965 first, but due to legal problems with the name 'Star' in USA, they were forced to create a new name: TAMA was born (1974).

Hoshino Kougyou: ended somewhere in the late 70's/ early 80's, not been taken over by another factory. Totally separate company, no connections known to Pearl/ Star/ Yamaha or any other Japanese company.
