Another MIJ Unicorn...I mean snare.

OK, so I am getting ready to do something totally new and unexpected, like those Taco Mayo commercials...

A few weeks ago I was looking at new snares and saw something really cool. It is a woodie, and has what the manufacturer says is a "Hand rubbed lacquer finish with silver dust rubbed into the finish", and man, it is hot! So, in the spirit of this finish, and bolstered by my success with hand laid glitters, I found a really cool product today at the Dollar Tree...."Super Fine Glitter". It is available in many colors, and the ones I think are best suited for this rebuild are below. The two lighter gold colors are not really in the running, but I highly suspect you will be able to see the finished product, but let me know which you all think would look best with this colored lacquer finish. Remeber, it opnly going to be an accent, not a glitter base for the colorant in this finish. I am hoping it will add someting completely different as an accent to this drum.

Please provide input and let me know what you all think of this whacky idea.

OK, the colored lacquer is almost complete. I have applied 2 more coats since this series of pix and it is really a deep, shimmery look now. Weds I will top coat it with clear gloss.

Once again, the pix don't really tell the story at all. Going out to get another shot or two so it looks more like the completed project will.

OK, this is the pre-final-finish coat look. It is ready for the top coat of clear gloss. The glitter accent is not very noticable in these pictures, but it is a truly amazing result, yet again. I love experimentinespecially g, when it comes out at least as well as expected, and this color and glitter accent combination is a really cool effect.
