Another Dyna-Sonic post!

Yesterday I purchased a Rogers Dyna-Sonic snare and am having trouble tracking down it?s date of birth. It?s 14x5, COB, has script Rogers logo, 7 lines on the shell & the serial number is 4435. I?m guessing/hoping it?s from 1966/67, can anybody confirm this? The condition of the drum is pretty good, with a fair amount of pitting, everything is there & working except the snare gate? I don?t know the proper term but it?s the piece on each end of the snares that has the semi-circle cut out. Do these come up often for sale & has anybody got any they want to unload? I picked it up for $250 Australian which I think was fair considering we don?t see many hear. Anyone care to disagree? Also I have to add that it?s an awesome sounding drum. I also have a 60?s Supraphonic and the Dyna-Sonic kills it. Perhaps it?s just the way the previous owner had it setup & tuned. It has beat up skins too. I have always struggled to get the sound out of the Supra that I know is there. Sorry for the long story, any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Josh,

I have this Rogers drum dating guide document, it is more a general idea on the dating - but that number falls in 1964 year on the guide. If I can find the link to it, I will post it later.

64 seems right. Probably a clockface too. Nice score.

Thanks for your replies. 1964! cool that?s older than I thought. Would that make it a Dayton Dyna? Yep you are right, it has the clock face (swiv-o-matic) strainer, I forgot to mention that earlier. I wish I could post some pics to show off my newly arrived but I don?t have the technology. All I need now is the rest of the Rogers Holiday kit, well I can only dream.
