Another Band Bites the Dust

From geckobeats

How long have you worked with her? Did you know each other well? You must of had some indicators she was getting hacked off with all the responsibility of booking the shows. Did she take a bigger share for all that work or was it an equal spread? All big questions. Because ultimately you and your bandmates sleepwalked into losing your agent.

I've known her for several years and we were pretty close. She volunteered to do all the booking, she also picked most of the music. Her initial goal was to have us booked every weekend, she was a real go getter for the first two years, booked us on a local television show, a big event called A Taste of New Orleans, various local venues and benifit shows. I'm not totally sure what happened, it's kind like losing a girlfriend, one minute everything is hunky-dory, the next minute she is giving you the, "It's not you, it's me" speech.

Johnny,

I've been dwn this rd..

There's only 2ways to handle this,,,& remember the venues usually booked Thru her..

So she has an inside connection with them & the locations usually like to deal

With the singer..!

You can replace her,...! It'l take some time, but will wrk, with the right fit.!

Or, you can book all the dates & see if she is avail (don't put any pressure on her)

Just the date / location & pay.

Also start getting a second female lead to fill in....so you can rotate them both ..

If she has left for another band, go see them play & encourage her with positive vibes,

Nothing negative or she will avoid you & then she'l start to book yr old clubs and then there's chaos ...

We now have 2 different girls that rotate playing keys & lead vocals etc..

Along with our lead guristist (male) sings lead...

This way we can play as a trio...drums,bass,guristist & as a 4piece,

But when we do play as a 4piece, we have 2 different ladies to choose from,

We email them both with the date, location, time & pay.....the 1st who confirms,

Gets the gig...period.

Hope this helps,

I hate starting a new band as well..

I get the jist.

I can only talk from the perspective of what you wrote.

Be cool. Be thankful for the hard work she put in. Be positive.

2 years of gig organising is pretty good, actually it's bloody hard work!! Ok shame she slid off, but somebody in that band made her insecure and unable to face you head on(bass player?). She still sorted the dollars out for you guys. What are the other boys saying? You could keep it together and get a new pretty voice in. And deal with the business yourselves.

Ya, she had major problems with the bass player, to the point of wanting to replace him. When this opportunity came with this other band, I suppose she thought it would be easier than finding a new bass player. I'm not sure what the others guys want to do, I think the bass new there was tension with him and probably doesn't care. The guitarist has other projects he's involved with and doesn't really like rehearsing, so I think he'll just move on.

Oh mate.

Well considering the Bass player was acting like a douche and the Guitarist has been called out as not really being that arsed I can see her motivation now. I can imagine now what she would say to me about it. Unfortunate for you bro all 3 have let you down.

Still keep your pecker up my friend. As you say you can get into some originals, and maybe put together a new covers band for weekend fun and dollars!

Well, the good news is, I'm auditioning for a band called The Hitlest next week. They were formerly a Beatles tribute band, but decided to change their name and do other music to be more versatile. They still do a few Beatle songs like the Golden Slumbers medley from Abby Road. Since The Beatles are my favorite band, this should work out well. Going to meet them Tuesday, wish me luck!

Well, there's a new twist here. First, I had to postpone the audition because of an infection under my armpit. But, after our gig Sunday, Leslie told us that the owner of Auggies Barbaque wanted us back next month. She agreed to continue to gig with us if we looked for a new bassist. So, our guitarist tells us that he gigged the night before with a bassist who might be interested in playing with us. Long story short, we are rehearsing with him Tuesday and he will play with us the following Sunday and I believe Auggies will continue to book us. I'll also be working with this singer/songwriter and Leslie may join us singing and playing keys.

That sounds like Good news to me,

I'm bettin the bassist was constantly telling her what to do or a complainer...

I would also keep on top of the audition (Beatles) band as well.!

This way You always have something in yr pot,.!
