And here is another Cocktail.

Got a few questions on this guy and any help is always appreciated. What I have (I think) is a 55 ish WFL Cocktail Lounge Drum. I don't think it has any extra holes but it is missing the badge and Tone/Snare mechanism. My guess is someone was going to re-wrap this sucker and then decided against it. That would explain the missing parts and the legs being put on with the washers on the outside of the drum. It does have what appears to be the original lugs, WFL tom holders and legs.

So my questions are:

1.Wondering if anyone has any idea what the writing is on the shell or is it probably just scribbling from past owners. It is a 16 by 24 drum but what about the R ?

2. Did this model have one of those half snare mechanisms like other cocktail drums or just a muffler

and

3. Did 50's WFL drums tuck the wrap like later Ludwig Shells of the 60's

Thanks Again,

Derek

Hi Derek,As for your questions..#1 the "R" 16 on the inside of the drum could have been a model number is the shell a one piece 24" long or two piece shell?..#2--half snare mechanism is missing..#3 No the 50's W.F.L. drums did not have the tuck like the 60's Ludwigs did...Mikey

Thanks Mikey.

Good to know on the WFL wrap being different from the Ludwig. I am pretty sure the drum is a one piece shell. There are some weird lines on the indside of the shell but they are barely on the surface and do not go all the way around the drum. No indication of two separate pieces on the outside. Did they have two different processes ?
