Aged WMP

Loading...

Looking for a nicely aged or reproduction pc of WMP for a snare to match a kit I recently bought from our good friend kevins. I only need enough for a 5.5x14. Any leads, ideas, or actual wrap would be greatly appreciated. The color should match the kit below. Thanks All!!!! Jaye--are you my huckleberry????

Precision Drum sells a "vintage" white pearl that would be close in color, but it is a small pattern. The wrap you have would be considered a large pattern. Being on a snare, it might not be as obvious looking. The continental pearl wrap they offer is the correct large pattern, but it is not an aged look......its a cream white in actuality, probably pretty close to what the wrap would have looked like new. The only other option I could think of for you would be to find a piece of wrap off a snare drum that was drilled the same as yours or maybe something off of a floor tom that you could cut to fit that happens to be aged exactly the same as yours.....that could be a longshot as not all white pearl ages the same.....good luck and let us know how you make out. :D

I have a kit IDENTICAL to yours in the picture; same hardware, same WMP (except my bass drum has some cracks in the wrap). Japanese, but do you know which company made it or when? Or the value?

Best guess is Star.As for age, I am going to have to say at the earliest, late 60s to very early 70s. I don't really think it is a 70s kit, but because of the tom holder alone, I am going to say it is a mid-late 60s. Star was using that type in 67. Although I am afeared it could be Pearl I will have a better idea Thursday when it gets here and I can pull the lugs to see. Post some pix so we can get a better look and put a value to it.

Check out drummaker.com .Search Aged White Diamond. It's got the large chunk pattern similar to 40's Radio Kings. You can buy half sheets from them and, they will send you a sample if you request it.

I just had a second thought. Right now,Precision has thier Continental wrap in thier specials section for 8 bucks for a 7 by 14 or smaller snare! You could buy that and hit it with a few coats of shellac or a wood stain (which will "yellow" it) prior to installing it. Just a thought. Cheapest way to go though.
