Advice- Trade 3ply Luddie PB to Slingy ´65?

Loading...

Have realy nice 70:s Ludwig B/O badge, Plack Panther, 3 ply, rerings, clear interior, in size 22/12/13/16 with some small smal deffects- One badge that is sratched, some minor scratch ( very little - better than most PB I ever see) and missing 10 cm inlays on one BD hoop.

I wonder if it´s good or bad deal to change them to Slingy WMP 1965 in sizes 20/13/16?

As far as I could understaind Slingy are in good condition but have some issue, as mine ( hmm... maybe little bit more) ,too:

Wrap is good, but (of course) yeollowed.

Shells are in god condition, as bearing edges.

Cymbalholder , L-arm on basdrum have distroyed threads for screw.

Some part on tomholder ( consolete rail) is broken and need to weld or replaced.

Basdrums leggs are not original - but they exist.

Maybe bump a on tom hoop.

What do you think?

Lot of people will probably say that its matter of taste and what sound I prefear.I LOVE vintage drums - but must admit - since I got my Antonio drums - I will ALLWAYS prefear to play on those - so acctualy I do not need more drums... And when I go for Vintage - I´ll chose my Camco. Thats why "sound" actualy do not matter. But vintage is still vintage

I would keep the ludwig kit simply due to the rareness of the DP wrap. I love Slingerland drums but WMP is fairly common, I have owned 3 of the wmp Slingerland kits.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Ok...

I was believe that WMP is most popular finish of "usually" wraps?

Maybe just because they are pretty common.

I do not find PB specialy nice - but not bad looking either.

I have read that people say it's unusually finish nut I have been seen them time to time.

Not as psych red, orange mod and so on ...

Thanks for you opinion. :-)

Some one more?

It sounds like your Ludwigs are in much better condition. Also are not Ludwigs a bit higher priced these day than the Slingerlands? Plus sounds like the SL kit has some issues too. And 1 less drum. If they add some cash or something to sweeten the deal maybe but I'd be keep those Luddys. Unless I'm missing something it just does not seem like a fair trade as is. JMO. ;)

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Based on the info provided on both kits,, keep your ludwigs for sure.

I agree....would not trade unless something else was brought into the deal....pictures would be great of both to compare and judge for ourselves.

I have same feeling as you - but was believe that WMP was more popular than PB.

I can put images on my set - but it's unfair to publish the other guys Sl...!?!

It can be even so that owner of SL is so honest so it sound worse than it is?

I believe that's great drums - with those two issue, only?

How ever - I think I keep Luddies and go over them with some Amorall and take few nice pictures and try to sell them "regular way" - for cash .

Thanks .
