advice on key-hole needed

Hi Folks,

I bought an old Zildjan Avedis 20 inch ride. Happy with it, sounds good, sounds suits the kind of music my band makes.Slight problem is: it has a bit of a key-hole.Because of the key-hole the cymbal sometimes changes position on the cymbalstand and hangs in an other angle. This kind of onnoys me. I'm thinking of glueing a brass ring on the key-hole. Using 2 component metal-glue.

Would this be an idea? (I'm into woodworking/shell repair/special painting, not so much in to cymbals, so I don't know)

Advice is welcome! Thanx in advance.

You could use a Grombal insert. I use them on regular cymbals without a need for keyhole issue. If you don't like it, it comes off easily.

Unless the keyhole is very bad and the cymbals stand slides into it, I'm guessing your "problem" is more likely due to an uneven distribution of weight around the cymbal. Many cast cymbals are a bit heavier on one side then the other and will tend to rotate so that the heavier side is pointed down when the cymbal is tilted. I would confirm that is not the case before I stated modifying the cymbal.

Grommet. A DIY job. Buy the kit at a hardware store or Home Depot. Worked on my 22 Trans Stamp.

I checked out. It's the weight problem. I solved it by glueing a small piece of filt next to the hole on the heaven side. Better now. Thanx all.

@agopsalot, thats a great idea I'll keep in mind
