Adele's Drummer

Loading...

For Christmas, I received a copy of Adele's current 25 CD. I have 21. I don't usually have too many positive things to say about the current crop of female pop singers BUT, this lady is fantastic! What a range! I did a bit of googling and learned that her drummer is Derrick Wright. In my opinion, he too is fantastic! He is rock steady and able to adapt different styles to fit the mood of the song. I know this is not a question about vintage drums but, was just wondering if any of you guys have listened to Mr. Wright and have formed an opinion. I think he is very talented!

Yes I like his style a lot... Lots of power, lots of light & shade..

Can't not notice his playing with 3 granddaughters playing Adele at every opportunity... Plus every trip to the supermarket being blasted by her albums...

Here's a bit of his playing...

Thanks very much for posting that, John! I really enjoyed it! You're sure right about the amount of air time she receives! Impossible to escape that girl!

Did a bit of googling and sure enough Mr. Wright is/was a church/gospel drummer. You can tell by the fills, dynamics and precision/intensity of playing. They simply are the best. Most top recording artists use church drummers on tour, and this another fine example. Thanks!
