Acrolite has very rusty rims

Loading...

I aquried another acrolite snare the other day. its pretty decent, but the top rim is extremly rusty. It has several places that the chrom is chipped off. The bottom rim isnt near as rusty but it has rust that wont come off. The muffler is also gone

My question is " Would the drum be worth more with the original rusty rims and t-rods and muffler, or new shiney aftermarket rims and t rods. Top tension rods are beyond cleaning also. Should I search for some original ludwig parts?

Keep it original and try to take most of the rust off. There are many methods in doing this. Good Luck!

Original is almost always best, in my opinion. The rust can be cleaned. It won't look "perfect", but as long as there isn't any completed rusted-through parts, your good to go.

I found a nice bottom rim on ebay for $4 + 7.50 shipping today, now i need a top one. it has chrome gone off of it. looks like someone played it with metal drum sticks or something.
