A. Zildjian & Cie. 30"

My ride's bigger than your ride…nyaa nyaa…nyaa,nyaa,nyaa!

[color=black][font=times new roman][size=+1]This is the next installment in the A. Zildjian & Cie. Series, is this 30" which weighs 6130 grams. Sound heavy? It's really not. In my opinion its a middle of the road medium for this size. Never mind the cymbal weight calculator, it tends to fail in accuracy as one moves into ever larger diameters. In fact would not want this one to be even one ounce thinner or heavier; I like just exactly as it is.[/size][/font][/color]

Are these the ones that were made in the 70's-80's and were part of the lawsuit with Gretsch?

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

As I mentioned in my post about the 20" Cie. Constantinople, I have reasons to believe that the first cymbals that they created in this series were made from old stock that was made in the 1960's. They used up their old stock first and then began producing them as newly made cymbals after demand required them to. I believe this to be another example like the 20" I posted about. These early ones were noticeably thinner than the ones that followed and also had early 1960's manufacturing characteristics. And also they didn't make any jumbo size cymbals like this one after the early 1960's perioed anyway. This series was started in the late 1970's, so there you have it.

This is an incredible instrument. I've only seen one other 30", which was on display at the Pro Drum Shop in Hollywood, w/ the claim that their's was the only one. ( These large cymbals may be quite a surprise to players, they have very controllable, delicious voice. I play a 1940's 28").

Yes. Avedis Zildjian got the rights to this trademark because is had been unused by Gretsch for too long.

Wow that is quite a cymbal. I have to agree with others here, these larger A's are very playable on a set and have a magical sound all to there own. I'd love to see this one in action, any video?

So what was the other 30" you mentioned was at the show like? Type of stamp, etc...

There were two 30" A's at the Chicago Drum Show in May; this being one of them.

So there are others that exist too. But I just want to be clear that when I said, "It could be the only one is existence"....I meant a 30" with the this "A. Zildjian & Cie." trademark. So now you can go back to the Pro Drum Shop in Hollywood and tell them.
