A Tale of Two Toms (Slingerland questions) Last viewed: 11 seconds ago

Loading...

Here we have two 15" Slingerland toms, but very different.

Small one has a rubber stamp "P" not sure what that means. Poplar, maybe? No badge. Year unknown.

Larger one has a badge serial 490xxx and does not have the same set o matic mount holes.

Any comments ?

I am curious when the toms stopped having the rings the smaller one has.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

The P is for Pearl.........wrap.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I'd say the stripped one is later, late 60s early 70s. It was drilled for a set-o-matic mount and has hex head screws for the lugs.

"P" does stand for "pearl" any shell destined to be wrapped got that stamp.

The green one is a 5 ply shell. I'd guess late 70s early 80's. Looks like it had a Rogers Memri-Loc bracket installed at one time.

I have three of these shells with the Memri-Loc holes, thanks for the ID, it had me a bit puzzled, but now I see what was done here.

From jccabinets

What year is the cat?

That is a Lynx Point Siamese, (Tabby Point Siamese in the UK)

He is a year old and he likes music. Very intelligent cat.

His name is Alger Hiss.:p

Cool, were cat (and dog) people here too. No dog at the moment, three cats.

I have a five ply Slingerland kit, they are fantastic drums.

Thank you!

That later Rogers Tom Mount pattern was throwing me from Slingerland.

Definitely looks like Rogers Big R Mount footprint.
