A Little Zildjian Help, Please

Loading...

Hi,

I just bought a 70's hollow logo 21" Zildjian ride that has a number engraved under the bell. Does anybody know if this is a 'factory' number, or something somebody added later?

It can't be the weight.

I've never seen a number like that under any of my Zildjian cymbals, and I've owned a number of hollow logo versions. Maybe it was once owned by a rental company or a school?

That's what I thought too. Maybe some kind of stock number. If it's a stock number, whoever it was had a lot of stuff! This number is in the 9 thousand range.

Thanks for response. I had never seen a number like that either on a hollow logo Z. If it was grams, that thing would weigh in at 20 lbs. plus!

! Brilliant! Great way to have a personal I.D. present on the drums and cymbals in case they ever get ripped off.

That may be the one, Mike!

I was just curious. I really don't know as much about cymbals as I should. When I saw the number, I figured I'd ask guys that are more knowledgeable than me. (Not hard to do! LOL)

Looks like a Dremel engraving tip...

I bought a used Setomatic Bd centre mount, someone (school I think), engraved right through the chrome a six digit number in big bold text.. works but don't look too good..

Cheers
