KK

I had a pile of shells come in to the shop in pieces. Completely disassembled.

Before I do anything with em, anyone wanna take a stab at identifying these shells?

These shells are the darker, more stringy type luan. Appear to be 5 or 6 ply.

large open seam. about 1/16"

here's the interior

typical very rounded vintage edge

I couldn't tell in the bd but the tom has indents from battleship style lugs(there were a ton of em in a box with the shells) and had a diamond shaped mount plate for the old style consolette hangers.

Thanx

If it's Luan, it's typical MIJ shells. No way to ID who made them but chances are they're from Pearl factories.

I just sent out a 12" shell like that with the ply gap-it had Hoshino Sharktooth lugs on it.Very primitive edges and stringy plies.

a couple other things that might be important.

The 13" tom has a nickle plated brass grommet that doesn't go all the way thru the shell. has the remnants of a silver metal badge with black on it.

Also the ft is a 14x14 and has the 4 bend flat bar, basic leg mounts with the open sides, like old Gracy's had.

I have orphaned shells of both, with the battleship lugs
