Hi RJD ~ Welcome to the forum!

Kind of a philosophical question really. It depends on your

1)general motivation [are you a collector, seller, player, hobbyist, etc.] &

2)specific reason(s) for wanting to restore (or not) THIS drum.

For example: I'm a musician foremost, so generally, I fix 'em so I can play 'em. I'm not an active collector (not always on the hunt), not a seller, but I do like to work on drums in a hobbyist capacity.

On the "specifically THIS drum" side - the drums I've worked on (and future ones) all have some personal value and meaning - my Ludwig Standard snare was a gift from a now deceased friend, my cool Rogers marching bass came from another friend's barn when his dad died, and yet another '50s set was my dad's - you get the idea.

As you probably know, a resto project can be an investment in time & cash, as well as a test of one's skill (and maybe patience) ~ not to mention those around us enduring our "obsession" ;)

Are you after it being functional, or a total "period" restoration, or ????

I guess the simpler question is - what's it worth to you?

...but when he played on his drum, he made the stars explode....

like you i am a player, hobbyist and repair im not into the buying and selling aspect just into getting drums so that they are playable again and when my skills get better i will attempt more alabrate projects, this drum kinda fell on my lap a good friend of mine dropped it off and asked me what i could do with it, im always up for a challenge i know i cant bring it back to its factory condition but i do think it would make a great player, and thank your for your responce
