A good source for nylon web straps for cases?

I picked up a couple of old trap cases recently. The straps are missing on one, and the fomer owner cut the straps too short on the other, so they just BARLEY buckle.

I have gone to Home Depot, Lowe's and several other hardware stores. The best I can find is tow strapping for cars or tie down/ratchet style straps, and those won't work (not to mention they are both bright YELLOW!).

Does anyone know where to get the nylon web strap material, as well as buckles and the little metal end that keeps the edge from fraying?

I don't know what stores you have available in your area. Out here in the formerly golden state we have Joann's (fabric and crafts) and REI (camping / outdoors equip.). I've purchased the webbing at both places for my drum cases.

Craft or fabric stores would be my guess also...I believe I may have some buckles that are brand new...Pm me and we will go from there...

Yes GG Vintage is so right on this.Joann's is the place to go you can also get felt for muffler's too...Mikey

If you get nylon webbing, you can melt the ends with a candle to keep them from fraying.

I buy that stuff at Mountain Equipment Coop, they have it on spools. They also have really good snaps that do the job.

I expect other outdoor sport outfitters will have similar.

That was exactly what I needed. I got 2 straps, 8 feet in length each, with the metal buckle installed and two metal finishing "ends" to complete the ensemble, that you just self install by clamping them on the end of the strap. That way, if the straps are too long and I need to cut them (I ordered them longer than I thought I needed just to be safe), then I can cut them and install the finished ends myself.

That website is great! It could also come in handy for those of us who use hard cases and are not fans of the cheap "plastic clip" that comes on virtually all cases these days. 25 colors available too! And you can choose the color of the metal buckle! It's almost like a MyDentity for case straps!

I have the webbing in stock at my shop. 1" or 2" and you do burn the end of the strap to keep it from unraveling. You might have a old duffle bag or soft bag with a nylon strap you can steel off of it, or you can get a leather strap at tandy leather company or an old belt might do it.
