Hi,

I've been looking to buy a Rogers drum set, and came across this one.

The sizes are 20 14 12

They are asking 1300 for it.

What's your opinion on it?

Thank you!!

If you are sure that isnt a rewrap, why are you asking?

That's the thing, I have not seen it yet. And was not even aware that re-wrap was a possibility. So now I know :)

Not a Rogers guy, but I think those onyx wraps were prone to splitting, so I'd check very carefully for splits. (if I'm wrong here, no harm done--you won't find any. btw, that's a great-looking kit, with nice sizes---if you like the color, just get it......marko

The bass drum is the left drum off a belson kit. Hi Hat Side, right handed player. Center Swivo was for a cymbal rod. The knobbie was for the close mounted Hi Hat rod and clamp.

While not a desireable setup on the bass drum, it is certainly one that is liveable.

I have seen two Rogers kits of that era with the blue onyx and they both had extensive splitting in the wraps. Both had been very well repaired, but you could see the repairs from about 3 feet. Much further away and you could not see it if you were unaware of it. Look closely at it. The onyx is just a brittle wrap after 40+ years, as it many other wraps of that era from many other manufacturers. It is a cellulose based material and dries out over time. Temperature and humidity, or a lack thereof, played a roll in this as well. My WMP kit had some cracking in it and I was able to glue it back in place and most people can't see it. But it is not an onyx...that stuff is tough to cover up a crack, unless it very small.

If it is a re-wrapped kit, I don't know about the price, but then what do I know...I love old Japanese crap.

you have a point there.

The same guy advertised a double kick set up with the same finish a while back. And now he's got 2 sets for sale. So this one is exactly what you said.

See, I totally knew this was the right place to ask.

So, the asking price might be a little too high for a "composite" set, eh?

Nice price for the set. Not for half the set.
