A Day in The Life
I met two terrific professional drummer musicians this past week on a Mediterranean Sea Cruise to Sint Maarten. Joshua McEwen from New York City and 'Junior' a top notch Steal drummer from Trinidad. They played informal pop hits poolside during the day time hours and performed a rigorous schedule in a large show room at the ship's main ballroom every night playing every genre of music and most all was read from the charts. A typical workday was five to eights hours of performing daily in various areas of the ship for seven consecutive days.
Mid week during the cruise while whaling away on a drum solo on a rendition of a Michael Jackson hit song, while down in the orchestra pit, Josh pulled a tendon in right arm. A re-injury from an old sports mishap from ten years back. Josh now unable to play his drums, was out of the show and had to break his contract with the ship's cruise line and worse, sit out the remaining week as a passenger. I took this photo as Josh was disembarking the Ship to get an MRI on his arm and fly back to New York to recuperate.
Good Luck Josh !
