Hi guys. It's been a while since I've been here.
Recently I traded a 14"x5.5" MIJ Tama Starclassic I had by a heavy beast - a 14"x6.5", Made in Taiwan, Brass Shell Pearl snare (model B-5314D)
I use to play my 14"x5" Supra (don't have a LM402, YET :D ) at almost every gig but I want a deeper snare, since I usualy play rock. This snare came around and I decided to give it shot. I had my Starclassic snare "laying arround" so I traded it, + some cash. The starclassic had a basic throw off system, 8 lugs per side, die cast hoops, basic snare butt plate... I used it a couple of times and didn't like it so much.
This Pearl is in relative good condition. The lugs were broken and the previous owner swaped them (by original ones) and attached them with longer screws. I heard this lugs use to break easily, btw. The shell has some oxidization marks and the top hoop has a spot without chrome. The throw off and butt screws were replaced by regular phillips screws.
I think I can give this snare some life. Don't know yet if will polish the shell, maybe not. I will keep you updated as soon as I start this project.
Feel free to leave your feedback about this snare, tips and opinions.
Cheers
