80's Premier 14x4 snare ID

I just bought this Premier 14x4 snare for cheap as a restoration project. It's in pretty poor shape cosmetically but plays and sounds great. I've checked the old Premier catalogs and can't find the model number. It's an 80's lacquer coated metal snare with parallel strainer and triple flanged hopes. The closest I can see is either model 2034 which is a lacquer covered brass shell or model 2024 which is a lacquer covered aluminium shell. The thing is the shell is magnetic so probably not one of those. Any Premier enthusiasts know if they released either of those with a steel shell or some other alloy?

Also, as you can see from the shell the lacquer is in very poor shape with some rusting underneath. Anyone have any experience with removing lacquer from a metal shell for best results?

Interesting snare. Mike Ellis is your man to find out exactly what model it is. Think he's on here, but you can reach him at Blenheim Drums also. He'll likely have any parts you may need too.

that's for Premier a pretty common snare drum; shell material ran the gamut from steel brass aluminum to maybe wood; start at the '71 catalog

It's a 2000 series snare.

As I can see hoops and wires are not original.

The badge looks pretty modern too - similar to the 90s ones they used on the Genistas, which were thick, with rounded edges.

Thanks for all the replies. As mentioned I've already checked the online catalogs and the closest models I can find are the 2024 and 2034. It doesn't have original wires currently but it looks like they are original hoops. Both the 2024 and 2034 had triple flanged hoops.

It does have the thick Premier badge so maybe a version of the 2034 from the 1990 catalog with a steel shell? I can't find any reference to steel shells for any of their piccolo snares though. It seems they switched to the newer 610 strainer in the early 90s so unlikely older than that.

It looks to be the one you've just posted above and is almost certainly 90s. The steel shell's a mystery though!

Yes I think it's most likely a 2034. The magnetic shell is puzzling though!

Its a 2024 with an anodised aluminium shell its in the 1987 catalogue
