A soul could make that 14 into a nice floor tom. That 24 would be a sweet addition to any kit. That 13 could be easily cut down to a more reasonable size. Remember, no rerings to deal with!!! Those drums have lots of potential. Just thinking out loud. I personally don't need them, but you can see where they would be totally cool pieces. Nice stuff.

What's the controversy with re-rings? Seriously, they

are amazing, why does everyone hate them so much?

What's the controversy with re-rings? Seriously, theyare amazing, why does everyone hate them so much?

Re-rings (reinforcement rings ) are used on drums with lower numbers of plys. Like 3, 2, or 1. These drums need extra support ( reinforcement ) to maintain their structural integrity ( stay in round ).

Here's an example from a Japanese floor tom... it's the interior ring at the top and bottom. This is a luan mahogany shell ( it really needs the help ) 4- plys of wood... luan-somethingwood-somethingwood-luan. The grain runs top to bottom in this example as opposed to horizontally for higher quality drums.

Re-rings are good... no one hates the re-ring... re-rings are our friend...:)

If you already know all this, please don't take offense, but your question led me to believe that perhaps you might not. Anyway, hope it helps if it was needed.

And...............

Mcjnic's statement about "no re-rings to deal with" was made in regards to cutting back the depth of those toms, to reconfigure them into a jazzier sizes. They are 6-ply shells, and don't have re-rings, so to resize, you would not have to remove re-rings, cut down the drum, and then replace the re-rings. Less to "deal with".
