70s/80s slingerland

Loading...

hey everybody, i went and took a look at a slingerland kit recently. there's some scratches, mostly on top of the bass drum, but other then that the kit is in pretty good condition. and it sounds killer.

8x12 (serial #520547)

9x13 (serial #518036)

16x16 floor tom(serial #522000)

14x22 bass drum(serial #515181) (maple hoops)

serial numbers and the badge look puts it at late 70s/early 80s. it has natural stain finish. toms were 3 ply, forgot to check the bass. the inside of the toms had a blackish speckle paint(i think this was normal?). price is $265, i think i could pick it up for $250. i'm mostly wondering if this is a good deal and how durable these drums are. i play in a pretty active hardcore/metal band so as much as i'd love a vintage set i need one that can take some abuse too.

Hmm.

Lot's 'O Slingerland mania this week.

I would say that $250.00 is a remarkable deal

any day.

3 or 5 ply was an option in this time frame as were

a number of very nice lacquer and oil finishes.

Slingers held up for Neal Smith, Bev Bevan, Phil Ehart

and of course, Buddy.

The "Set 'O Matic" tom holder might be an issue...

Nothing some RIMS and rack won't cure tho!

Also may have been unwrapped and then stained. In that case the $250 would be about right IMHO.
