I have a hard time believing that bidding is up to $423 for a pitted Supra 400. You can pick up nice ones any day for less. Mine looks worse than that. Maybe I should ask a grand for it.

There’s no way that’s shipping from Georgia. That’s a dealer based in Asia. Just read the item description; it’s not written by a native English speaker. A lot of times the dealers based in Asia list their items much higher than everyone else, but I don’t think that explains the price this time.

I’m guessing someone bid high at the start and didn’t expect it to reach that price with the condition it’s in. There was enough interest that it reached a very unreasonable price and now someone is gonna get screwed.

They're not even that expensive on reverb.com, and almost everything is overpriced on that site.

Apparently there was a bid for $800 that is now withdrawn. The high bid just went back down to $200+ . Fishy stuff.

Fishing for the maximum autobid a competitor had placed perhaps?

Sometimes bidders do this to discover the reserve, but it might also discover a top autobid. I can't say for sure because I haven't tried it out.

The whole thing does smell fishy when we're faced with the secrecy aspect of a "private listing". This makes it even harder to detect shill bidding.

I can't be as crystal clear as you that Bloo Goose are engaged in shill bidding. But it is suspicious.

In the good old days when eBay didn't cloak the buyer ids I found a few sellers who are both notorious and have several accounts. I reported what appeared to be shill bidding when an item sold for a high price on one account and then appeared for sale on one of their other accounts a few months later. I have a pretty good handle on expected prices, and because I do long term tracking I was able to say that the pattern was suspicious because I can see the same item reappear in my database later on, particularly in cases where the item has specific identifying marks one can see in the photos. ;)

eBay is the only one who can really see beneath the surface and investigate such matters. eBay did nothing and never got back to me. But if anybody wants to report Bloo Goose for suspicious behavior you have my full support. I'm happy to cheer from the sidelines.
