70s Slingerland COA Snare with WHITE WRAP?

Loading...

Hey Guys,

I have something of a conundrum here. I have a late 70s Slingerland Aluminum shell snare that has a white wrap on it! I'm assuming the wrap was added at some point.

It has an Active Snare system on it, and I don't know if the throwoff is original or not. It also has a Falams II batter head. Definitely an odd drum! What do I have here?

This drum came with my Slingerland set as a sort of "bonus" drum. The matching snare is about 9" deep give or take.

It actually sounds pretty good, and has received multiple compliments from other drummers.

Can anyone identify this drum? How hard do you think it would be to remove the wrap from a metal shell? What are the risks? I'm guessing it's chrome plated?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have no idea what that is. 10 lug 5X14 aluminum ,built around 1975, if it's the right badge. I do know the aluminum drum I had for a short time in the 80's looked pretty scabby, which may explain the wrap job. Fascinating...
