So as I have been buying and selling more lately I came across this 1970's Pearl wood - fiberglass kit. Looks in good condition, needs bass legs and a good cleaning. Is $300 a good price and one I can make a profit on? I don't expect to do more than double what I spend at best, but I don't wanna over pay for something that isn't a good deal. I know they recently re-issued these drums and they go for a decent price, but not sure about these older ones.

These are standard sizes I suppose?
I don't know about the American market, but in Europe it would be difficult to sell them for 600 dollars (= 536 Euro's). Especially in standard sizes en plain black (or white, or silver, etc.) wrap.
I heard they are great drums though. I guess for 300 dollars I would only buy them if I wanted to use them myself.
But again, I don't kow the american market.

Hello Jay,
Does the kit come with both mounted toms or just the one?
and with that, there is no snare drum or extra goodies Yes?
I know the wood /fiberglass component is desirable to a degree
but seems to me the three bills might be all the money as they are
Far as I know it's just the three, but the other mounted tom could be in there and just wasn't photographed. I figured since the new ones were selling for around 1,200 asking 500-600 would be reasonable since they are in good shape and have everything but bass drum legs. Which I can get from Pearl, so no big issue there. And yea no stands or snare with the deal.

You'd be hard pressed to make a profit on those. Good drums but not much demand. Plus plain black. Metal bass hoops.
I dunno, considering you can get a new one delivered in the color you want for under a $1K with a lifetime warranty,$600 seems a bit high.
I've owned the Pearl WF in the past and it's a good sounding kit,but I'd buy a new one before a used that has seen better days at that price.
Fair enough. This may be a walk away. I'd get it for myself, but I've run out of personal storage room at home for all my drums, lol

By 'bass legs' you mean spurs? I have an all fiberglass set with the earlier tom mounting hardware. I needed one spur, so I just bought a set of 'replacements.' Well, the 'replacements' don't quite line up on the older drums... unless you want to open some holes up a bit. I can't tell by the pictures if those are the newer style spurs. The older style spurs can be hard to come by at a decent price. Most of them have a leg locking nut or two missing.
Yea I meant the spurs, but one of them looks semi-complete in the photo. So I'm not 100% on what is missing.

I had a vintage Pearl President circa 1969, which was a also a wood fiberglass, in the ultra elusive and rare Gold Grain Pearl (looks like a yellow tiger eye) that i picked up for $350 Cdn, complete with shrinking of wrap and some tiny crackling here and there.
I detailed and cleaned them, sanded bearing edges, and lacquered the interior..I resold it for $600 to a young guy who wanted it for his studio..I think $300 is a good and fair price..
Hope this helps you out..;)
