70s Ludwigs is it a good deal?

Loading...

I'm going to check this set out this evening. The owner claims it is a '74, which should be 3ply correct? We'll see. Says the sizes are 10, 12, 16, 22, though the toms look more like 12 and 13 to me if thats a 16 floor in the pic. Again, we'll see. Owner says it has some scuffs and normal wear, missing 1 t-rod and inlay on 1 hoop, and a bit of wrap lifting. He wants $350 for it, good deal or no?

If they are 3 ply, great deal. 6 ply, okay deal. No snare?

In the picture, it's missing at least 3 T-Rods...

74 would make it 3-ply. It looks like 12/13/16 toms. Good deal in my opinion!

I saw that too, his email said only 1 is missing, I'll have to wait and see, I believe I have several ludwig Ts and claws in my parts bin anyways.

I have the matching B/O 70s red sparkle snare. Let me know what you decide on that kit.

350.00 for 4 american made drums pro series drums, good deal, great deal if they are 3 ply imo, at that price you can clean them up,play them for a while and if you don't want to keep them you should be able to flip them for what you paid, even make something if they are 3 ply.The rims on the mounted toms look uneven which could be bad tensioning or the heads stetched beyond the limit or pulled out of the hoop.I bought a ludwig in 1977/78 new and it was 3 ply, floor was granitone int,the rest were clear int,I have a freind that has a 1974 75 3 ply with granitone int, they had been sitting 15 yrs with the bottom heads off,we cleaned them up put heads on top and bottom and they sounded great,I think that time ludwig was making drums that sounded as good as anything they ever made.
