70s Ludwig pointy B/O badge shell question

Did the clear 3 ply shells with re-rings have a lacquer coating? I just saw a set and it was kind of shiny making me think it may have been added. Thanks.

Yes, they did have some type of clear (honey-colored) lacquer sealer that was shiny.

Thanks, I bid $400 for a blue sparkle 4 piece set (2 racks, floor and bass) that needs a few lugs, badges, a bass hoop and other small stuff - waiting to hear back from the guy.

Arrgh mate, it be a Super Classic! Nice blue sparkle. Are they in good condition? Look nice, how much is missing from them?

They look a little dinged-up, but definitely a good deal for $400 -IF you can get the missing parts for a fair price. You might be surprised at how much those "little things" add up to after awhile!

The configuration is either:

A.) A "Hollywood" -sans Supra

Or:

B.) A "Big Beat" -sans Supra

Depending on IF you decide to get the period-correct hardware and an era-matching Supra, you can dress your kit out either way. The 1400 series fat base hardware would make it a Hollywood and an Atlas hardware package would make it a Big Beat.

Personally, it would be considered a "player's kit" to me because of the missing badges....but those 3-ply shells are some of the best Ludwig ever made, in my opinion.
