66 Ludwig Pioneer for hi hat cymbals

It's beautiful for sure. It may be a re-wrap, because I don't see any fading under the hoops. HOWEVER, it did match perfectly the '67 Ludwig Downbeat kit I just sold. So, if it is a re-wrap, it's perfect. No mismatched edges.

A great snare -- '66 Pioneer. I can see, technically, why people prefer 8 or 10 lug drums, bu this one's easy to tune, and sounds like a great vintage wood snare. Really sounds good. It isn't perfect -- there's some pitting on the lugs and marks on the hoops -- but it looks good, eh?

What I'd like in return is a decent set of hi hats. I'm kind of stuck on vintage Zildjians, but a good Paiste set would work well, too. I think 13 is the smallest...but I've been known to love 12s, too. 16s are probably the max. Medium - light are the best. Heavy? Too much work!

Y'all are hip to this stuff, and I think you'll be fair in what you have on offer. Please don't jerk me around on stuff. Fair trade for fair value. Strangely, considering my general cynicism, I have fair in the people on this forum.

There's a Ludwig Medium head on this now, but I also have a heavy with a few stick marks.

Click to chek out the photos.

Thanks!

bill

that's probably a 66 model. all of the wraps at that point were tucked into the scarf joint in the shell. so, if its a rewrap, the wrap would all be on top of the shell. I took a look a the grommet and it looks fine. you might just have an original beautiful example of champagne sparkle there. either way, its a beautiful drum.

good luck with the trade. check that scarf joint too.

Well, Mr. Mike, aren't you the well informed rascal! Sho nuff! It's tucked into the joint.

Dang. Thanks for the education!
