'65 BOP snare: Is it a Pioneer, a Jazzfest?

Loading...

Hi Guys,

My 1965 Ludwig BOP snare is much like those BOP Ringo's selling for big $$ on eBay. It's an 8 lug so I think it's worth more than a 6 lug, but not sure; there are some debates out here about value and # of lugs. It's 5 1/2 X 14, all original parts & wrap. Not sure whether it's called Jazz Fest or Pioneer. Thoughts??

Jazz Fest have 8 lugs, Pioneer have 6. Yours is Jazz Fest, and is not worth messing with, you can send it to me and I'll figure out something to do with it....:D

It is worth money. My understanding is Ringo still plays his from time to time. Kept the same snare for years, regardless of the kit he was on.
