WOW! Those are beautiful. I can only imagine how nice they sound. What are you using for a batter on the kick drum? Are you playing it wide open?

I am now trying out the powersonic currently, just because a friend gave it to me. So far, it is pretty good and punchy, but it looks terrible! I hate to be so superficial! I usually use a smooth white powerstroke with a tiny towel touching the front head

I have a '67 BOP, unfortunately it is a re-wrap, but the shells are true blue.

I have a Powerstroke 3 on the batter & a Ludwig Smooth Heavy WeatherMaster on the front, with a 4" port with white snap ring. The Remo is nice and thumpy but the Ludwig logo head (yeah, I'm kinda anal about the look too), is thin and flappy sounding no matter how I tune it. I have a muffle pillow inside which really helps. The sweet spot for miking is the center. Any suggestions on how to 'thump up' the reso. head? I'm not apposed to swapping out the logo head as I can always put a logo on a white head. My drum head collection of failed experiments, rivals the local drum shop inventory. Does that mean I have issues? Thanks, any advice is appreciated. It's nice to hear from drummers with the same obsessiv......I mean 'passion'.

hmmm, I would start with making it tighter than you think. The towel works great for me. I even tried a powerstroke smooth for the front with hole and that tamed flappiness a little, It wasn't enough to sacrifice the look.

i say tighten it up a little, particularly near the hole and use a little towel. my towel is a wash cloth...

Worked like a charm! Good advice regarding tightening the tension by the port. On my Premiers & Pearls I just throw on the heads with even tension all the way around and they sound great. I guess this old girl is a little more fussy. Thanks again!
