’64 Leedy Snare Kit Last viewed: 9 hours ago

Hello,

I picked up this ’64 Leedy student snare kit on a whim and would like to find out more including what the snare would be worth. Looking at the ’65 Leedy catalog it appears to be a snare kit model 139F but with an 8 lug snare as opposed to the standard offering of 6 lugs. It’s blue sparkle pearl, no tone control, 5.5 x 14. I did the magnet test on the hoops…they are COB stick-savers. Date stamp on inside of the shell is AUG64.

Are these decent snares? Wood appears to maple.

What do you think these snares are worth, as I am not a Leedy expert.

Great time capsule you have here. the snare drum you have is Slingerland's Hollywood ace equivalent. they sale in the $250.00 range.

Thank you for the positive feedback! I think I got real lucky on this one, it’s cleaning up beautifully.

Regarding VM2K’s comment about the equivalency to a Hollywood Ace. I realize that was in relation to the construction and ply layup, etc. But would the Leedy be greater, equal to, or less collectible than a Hollywood Ace? Just curious as this is my first venture into Slinger-Leedy.

That's a nice drum.

I like the Leedy center lugs from the Slinger-Leedy period.

They may have been Slingerlands second line, but I think they are better looking.

I would think there were probably less Leedy badged drums sold at that time, so they would be more uncommon to find now. Don't know if that translates into more valuable or collectible.
