Thank you for the kind words and information. Are you saying that if it was Pink Champagne it would perhaps be more valuable? I'm not going to be greedy, but I do want to get as much out of the drum as I can. It's a very well-preserved drum; that's why I bought it.Stephen

Pink Champagne Sparkle is one of the more sought after wraps these days and to have a wooden dyna in this wrap colour would certainly be a bonus price wise. Most of us ordered the cob dynas in those times as that was the hot snare of the day.As a result there weren`t as many wooden dynas made, accounting for the price they are going for nowadays.Hope you`re in "the pink" Stephen-fabulous snare you`ve got there and do let us know what you find under the butt plate.

Thanks Wayne. I actually have my doubts that it's Pink Champagne. For some reason, it just doesn't strike me as that color. I sent Harry Cangany a message through Facebook to see what he thought, but he's yet to respond.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I suggested the butt rather than a lug as I think it will be the least disturbing, if you aren't disassembling the whole drum.

...or just remove the muffler if you don't want to mess with remounting and readjusting the snare frame. The true color should reveal itself under the little oblong plate behind the muffler knob. (I think we're going to discover it's faded Sparkling Silver Pearl.)

I would really think it much easier to remove the butt. If the muffler has never been removed, I'd leave it alone, simply because Rogers would slightly crimp the end of the threads on the muffler shaft to keep the nut from coming off. Best to leave it alone! Just my :2Cents:

Good point Mark. Now how about this... how much do the heads overlap the wrap on a wood Dyna (I have only COB Dynas). Is it possible to see the original, unfaded wrap near the bearing edges simply by removing the batter head?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm pretty sure the drum is darkened Silver Sparkle after removing the butt plate.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Bust your butt plate, that sure is silver glass glitter!

Yep, that looks like Silver Sparkle, which has faded to a nice Ginger Ale.

I have a Rogers kit that looks that way under the lugs for all drums.

By the way Stephen, what is the serial number etched into the oval Dynasonic badge?
